15 November 2024: Marylebone Cricket Club, the owner of Lord’s Cricket Ground, and Freemans Event Partners, the leading multi-service partner for some of the UK and Europe’s most prestigious venues, have won a Business of Cricket Award for the Food Village at Lord’s.
The Food Village – a brand-new, two-tier, permanent structure, kitted out with self-service kiosks and a wide range of food and drink options – was named ‘Best New Development’ winner at the ECB’s prestigious Business of Cricket awards ceremony last night.
Food and drink is at the heart of the game of cricket – it’s the only sport to feature a lunch and tea break, after all. We plan our food and beverage offer meticulously, ensuring all tastes, preferences and dietary requirements are catered for, and the Food Village represents the next step for us in evolving what we have to offer fans.
We are honoured that our innovation has been recognised so soon after opening for the start of this year’s cricketing summer, and we look forward to continuing to work with Freemans Event Partners to develop what we have to offer at Lord’s Cricket Ground. This recognition is a testament to the wider team’s effort and the support from Marylebone Cricket Club throughout the project.”
The development, led by Freemans Event Partners, ensures that spectators have a world-class foodservice experience, with high quality grab and go food on offer and lower queue times. In fact, when compared to previous Test Matches, queue times were cut in half during this summer’s season, meaning fans can spend more time watching the action out on the field rather than in queues.
