Lord’s Cricket Ground
IMPACT
THE OBJECTIVE
Lord’s Cricket Ground is known as the Home of Cricket, hosting dozens of matches each year with a capacity of 31,100.
Our objective, in partnership with the Marylebone Cricket Club (MCC), was to elevate the spectator experience by enhancing food & beverage options and streamlining payment and queue management with innovative self-service technology and grab & go convenience.
APPROACH
We launched a brand-new food & drink retail concept in partnership with the MCC. The Food Village is a duplex structure that brings spectators a diverse range of food & drink options. Both hot and cold food is available from Korean-style bao buns, sushi, and Mexican tacos, to high-street brand Choppaluna and West Cornwall Pasty.
In a ground-breaking move for the events industry in the UK, FEP-PAY introduced self-checkout terminals to the Food Village, setting a new standard for convenience and efficiency. Cricket fans can select food & drink from a range of grab & go and self-serve offerings and use self-checkout technology they are familiar with from large chain fast food and retail outlets.
To further enhance the Food Village, we built bespoke food-to-go outlets for the venue, appealing to the premium spectator demographic. Working with independent street food vendors, we provide a varied and diverse offering that includes global cuisines and award-winning options.
Our payment solution, FEP-PAY, executed a strategy to improve the payment experience across the entire venue, spanning hospitality areas, food & beverage vendors, and bars. Over 300 payment devices are strategically deployed, with reliable and speedy connectivity and payment processing to ensure a fast and convenient checkout experience for cricket fans.
Enhancing spectator communication, food and drink maps are installed across the venue, presenting the food and drink offerings available and providing information on which outlets are suited to their dietary requirements. To support sustainability, recycling dividers have been placed conveniently between outlets, encouraging cricket fans to recycle their cans. We create engaging provenance stories about the vendors and collaborate digitally with the venue through social media and website content to raise awareness of the offering amongst their followers.
In 2024, we served over 2,000 meals per match day throughout the cricket season to the workforce and volunteers supporting the cricket ground. Our team of skilled chefs created menus for the season offering nutritious, balanced, and delicious meals. With vegetarian and vegan options, menus changed throughout the day with hot & cold, eat-in or takeaway options available.
